He was born in Kazımkarabekir district of Karaman province on 02.02.1952.

Completed primary school in Kazımkarabekir and Karaman Gazi Mustafa Kemal Schools.

He completed his secondary and high school education at Konya Maarif College. In 1969, he started the Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University and graduated in 1976. In November of the same year, he entered the Otolaryngology Clinic of Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty as an assistant and became a specialist in July 1980. December 1980 - March 1982, he completed his military service at Haydarpaşa Military Hospital. In April 1982, he was appointed to the Department of Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty as a specialist. He became Associate Professor in 1986 and Professor in 1995.

Between 1975-1976 he was the Student President of Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of the TKBB&BBC Association from 1982-1994 and Chairman of the TKBB&BBC Association from 1998-2002. He was among the founders of TKBBV in 1994, was Vice President of TKBBV from 1994-2001, and President of TKBBV from 2001-2013.

He was on the organizing board of the 15th IFOS World Congress in 1993.

He was a 2-term IFOS board member from 1989-1997.

In 2012, he was the editor of the book on External and Middle Ear Surgery.
